Requirements
The Vision Engineer is responsible for integrating and supporting advanced inspection technologies, and machine vision solutions for a wide variety of automated applications. Successful candidates will possess excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills. Vision Engineers are expected to produce solutions independently, as well as within a team environment when required, while ensuring excellent customer service. Additional support for skills development will be available through training offerings provided by Ascension Automation Solutions after a 90-day waiting period.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, test, debug and maintain machine vision processes and hardware for different applications
Develop inspection algorithms especially for work with robots and autonomous systems
Gather and analyze process data to improve performance/ functionality
Develop technical documentation for end users to understand how the system works, and how to use it
Working with existing systems, ie. Cognex, Keyence, Matrox etc.
On-site commissioning of vision solutions, and automated equipment on customer sites across Canada, United States and Mexico.
Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with visons systems and communicate solutions for complicated issues
Adhere to all related safe work practices and customer safety requirements
Other duties as required
Education
A diploma or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required (Automation/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technology etc.)
Relevant work experience will also be considered
Experience
One to two years’ experience of assisting in programming vision equipment is considered an asset;
Knowledge of PLC, electronics, robot programming and automation is an asset;
Experience using Java, C++, Python is an asset
Knowledge of computer programming including Microsoft Visual C# is considered a strong asset.
Knowledge of industry systems, Cognex, Keyence, Matrox, etc. a strong asset
Strong math and analytical skills;
Strong ability to communicate both written and verbal
Base Rate: $24.00-$68.00 CAD/hr, plus overtime, and double time rates as applicable. Base rates will be determined based on skill and experience.
Travel and fieldwork throughout Canada and the USA is required.
