Roles and Responsibilities


We are currently looking for a skilled and motivated Machinist to operate a variety of machines to complete given projects & tasks. You will be expected to produce/repair precision parts using both automated and manual equipment with accurate measurements. We are looking for an experienced individual with a keen eye for detail, can work independently while demonstrating and adhering to Health and Safety precautions.


A strong candidate will demonstrate a solid ability to:

  • Must be able to draw and generate programs with MasterCAM, as well as make programs on CNC controller on shop floor

  • Review drawings, instructions or sample parts to grasp the specifications of the project

  • Plan and organize the sequence of actions needed for completion

  • Select and setup the appropriate machines

  • Calculate and set controls to regulate speeds and feeds in order to complete work in a controlled and safe manner.

  • Perform quality control on pieces produced to ensure they are within the proper specifications

  • Keep track of good and scrap parts

  • Perform routine machine maintenance and carry out minor repairs when necessary to ensure the machines are working properly


Qualifications and Core Skills


  • Should have own set of basic tools to support their machinist trade (micrometers, indicators, caliper etc.)

  • At least 3 years’ experience in the field as a machinist

  • Experience using/programming manual, semi-automatic or automatic tools and machines

  • Ability to properly use precision tools to take accurate measurements

  • Solid knowledge of the properties of metals and other materials

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and manuals

  • Solid math and analytical skills

  • Proficient in the use of CAD software is a must

  • Mastercam experience is an asset

  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Works well independently but also great in team settings

  • Red Seal Certified would be considered an asset

  • Highly proficient on manual lathes and milling machines


Work Conditions


  • Ability to stand for a lengthy period

  • Ability to physically lift up to 50lbs

  • Overtime as required

  • Weekend work may be required


Remuneration

Training for a variety of skills is available through internal and external training offerings. Employee progress will be evaluated annually through performance reviews.

Starting wage rates/hour will follow the ranges below and will be determined based on skill and experience:

  • Rate $27.00 - $38.00/hr

Education:

  • Diploma or Degree in General Machining, or relevant industry experience

  • Minimum 7 years’ licensed machinist

  • Red Seal Certified

  • Certificate of Apprenticeship
