We are currently looking for an experienced Welding Engineer / Technician to join our applications and product development team.


Job description

This position is within Ascension Automation’s Applications Engineering team. You will be involved in developing new automation products and working alongside our software development group. The Welding Engineer/Technician will also be responsible for programming MIG/MAG weld schedules, spot weld schedules, and performing quality checks on both manual and automated welds. Successful candidates will possess programming capability and troubleshooting skills. The Welding Engineer/Technician is expected to work efficiently alone or as part of a team while ensuring excellent customer service. Additional support for skills development will be available through training offerings provided by Ascension Automation Solutions after a 90-day probation period.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Program industrial robots including brands such as Fanuc, ABB, Yaskawa, and Kuka

  • Create weld schedules for brands such as Lincoln Electric, Miller Electric, WTC, and ESAB

  • Assist with developing new automation products

  • Assist with developing robotic weld engineering standards

  • Travel to customer sites for service calls

  • Clearly communicate mechanical, electrical, or process issues discovered while programming

  • Generate documentation to support quality compliance programs

  • Adhere to all related safe work practices and customer safety requirements


Education:

  • A diploma or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required (Automation/Mechanical/Welding Engineering Technology etc.)

  • Relevant work experience will also be considered


Experience:

  • 5+ years of industry experience preferred

  • Experience with robot brands such as Fanuc, ABB, Yaskawa / Motoman, Nachi, and Kuka an asset

  • Experience with MIG / MAG and spot welding an asset

  • Experience with PLC’s such as Allen Bradley and Siemens is an asset

  • Experience with AutoCAD or Solidworks is an asset


Travel and fieldwork throughout Canada and the USA is required.


Pay: $32.00-$40.00 per hour


Expected hours: 40 per week
