Machine Shop Supervisor

Roles and Responsibilities


We are currently looking for a skilled and motivated Machinist to operate a variety of machines to complete given projects & tasks. You will be expected to produce/repair precision parts using manual equipment with accurate measurements. We are looking for an experienced individual with a keen eye for detail, can work independently and with little to no supervision as this is a senior level position while demonstrating and adhering to Health and Safety precautions.


A strong candidate will demonstrate a solid ability to:


  • Review drawings, instructions or sample parts to grasp the specifications of the project

  • Plan and organize the sequence of actions, appropriate work holding and tooling needed for completing parts or projects

  • Select and setup the appropriate machines for the parts or projects based on the dimensioning and tolerancing conveyed on the drawing(s)

  • Proper selection of gauging equipment based on dimensioning and tolerancing conveyed on the drawing(s)

  • Perform quality control on parts or projects to ensure they are within the proper specifications/tolerances

  • Follow process flows and procedures for conforming and nonconforming parts

  • Perform routine machine maintenance and carry out minor repairs when necessary to ensure the machines are in good working order


Qualifications and Core Skills


  • Should have own set of basic tools to support their Machinist trade (micrometers, indicators, caliper etc.)

  • At least 9 years’ experience in the field as a Machinist

  • Experience using/programming manual, semi-automatic or automatic tools and machines

  • Ability to properly use precision tools to take accurate measurements

  • Solid knowledge of the properties of metals and other materials

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and manuals

  • Solid math and analytical skills

  • Proficient in the use of CAD software is a must

  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Works well independently but also great in team settings

  • Red Seal Certified would be considered an asset

  • Highly proficient on manual lathes and milling machines

  • Must be able to work with little to no supervision


Experience:

  • CAD software: 7 years (preferred)

  • Machining: 9 years (required)


Licence/Certification:

  • Red Seal Certificate (required)


Work Conditions


  • Ability to stand for a lengthy period

  • Ability to physically lift up to 50lbs

  • Overtime as required

  • Weekend work may be required

Pay: $45.00-$52.00 per hour
